The group meets once a fortnight,on Friday morning,in the café above the Oriel Mostyn/Mostyn Art Gallery.

The group reads a selection of Latin literature, with the group Facilitator providing a word by word, phrase by phrase translation. Grammatical explanations are kept to a minimum, and the emphasis is on understanding and following the Latin.

We are at present reading a Latin translation of R.L.Stevenson's Treasure Island, a Latin translation of Odyssey,Book 10,and Apuleius' Cupid and Psyche.We will shortly begin a reading of a Latin translation of Sophocles' Oedipus Rex.

Members receive a handout via email for each session,giving a detailed translation of the current readings; printed handouts are available for those without email. The intention is to keep the course fairly light-hearted, and we accommodate all levels of ability.
