For our June Open Meeting, we are delighted to feature another performance from our very own u3a Choir. It's always a popular event!

As usual the Open Meeting will take place in the Main Hall at the Craig-y-Don Community Centre. Doors open at 13:30 and the meeting wil start at 14:00.

Founder member Lisa Dacks who started the choir and is still an active member offers this background to the choir:

"The U3A choir was one of our first groups. We were fortunate enough to acquire a pianist. There were 16 of us and I led the choir with no experience whatsoever, except a love of singing.

Fortunately, one of our members was Beryl, who has a wealth of experience with choirs and when I fell ill, she volunteered to take over. She has led us ever since and brought us to the successful level at which we are now.

We have a membership of around 60, with an average of 40 attending each week. We sing songs from shows and films and songs which have been popular over the years. We are like one happy family. Christine is now our pianist and we are lucky to have her. She is now our fourth! There is a waiting list to join the choir.

Please do come and hear us on June 3rd at the Craig Y Don Community Centre at 2:00pm. You will be sure to be uplifted and go out feeling better than when you came in!!"
